Walnut
Walnut Wood Flooring has heartwood that ranges from a deep, rich dark brown to a purplish black. Sapwood is almost white to tan. There is a big difference between heartwood and sapwood. To reduce this difference some manufacturers steam the wood to bleed the darker heartwood color into the sapwood.
The grain is mostly straight and open, but some boards have burled or curly grain.
The hardness of Walnut wood flooring is 1010 in Janka Table, 22% softer than Northern red oak They are moderately dense and excellent for nailing. They are fair for sanding and they finish nicely.
